The one useful fact about roulette strategy
There isn’t one. A red bet returns 97.2973%, a dozen returns 97.2973%, and a straight-up bet on zero returns 97.2973%. The zero pocket is the entire house edge and it applies uniformly, so no combination of bets, no progression, and no pattern of previous spins changes the expected return by a single basis point.
Systems sold for roulette are sold against this arithmetic, not around it.
What this page no longer claims
An earlier version compared the single-zero wheel against an American double-zero wheel at 5.26%, and against the American five-number line at 7.89%. Those figures are correct about American roulette and irrelevant here: no American wheel ships in this build, and a comparison to a table the reader cannot open is a rhetorical device rather than a disclosure.

The mathematics
Basis: exact. Computed at page load, not sampled — there is no error bar because there is no estimate.
A European wheel has 37 pockets. Every bet on it is priced as though there were 36. That
single sentence is the entire mathematics of roulette, and it produces a return of
36/37 — 97.2973% — on every bet the table accepts.

Look down the right-hand column. Red, the dozens, and the straight-up zero all return the
identical 97.2973%. The bets differ enormously in variance and not at all in value, which
is why “better bets at roulette” do not exist and why every system built on them fails for the
same reason.
This is the one game here where the published figure needs no derivation longer than a
fraction — and it is worth showing precisely because the number is so often quoted without it.
What the gate does before the game loads
Nine states have enacted statutory bans on the sweepstakes casino model, and six more closed their markets by enforcement without passing anything.
