Faro Dorado — the odds, computed

What this game returns, where the number comes from, and what a real casino is and is not obliged to tell you.

Published return

94.76%measured

Computed at load from the game’s own constants — the same source the casino itself uses to pay. Nothing on this line is typed by hand.

Measured rather than closed-form, so it carries a sampling interval rather than being exact to the last decimal.

What a real casino would do

Not knowable from the outside

A real slot machine’s house edge cannot be worked out from the outside — and that is the point.

  • Roulette and baccarat have edges you can derive, because the rules fix them.
  • A slot’s return is not fixed by any rule. It is a number the developer chooses when they build the reel strips and the paytable, and nothing you can see while playing reveals it.
  • Nor can you measure it: at slot volatility, thousands of spins still leave you a long way from the true figure.
  • So no estimate is printed here. Any typical-slot-RTP figure is somebody’s guess wearing a decimal point.
  • What the law gives you instead is a floor — and a different floor depending on which state you are standing in:
  • Nevada (Gaming Regulation 14): minimum theoretical payout must not be less than 75% for each wager available on the device — a floor of 75%, so the house may legally keep up to 25%.
  • New Jersey (N.J.A.C. 13:69E-1.28A): each wagering slot game must have a theoretical return to player of 83% or greater — a floor of 83%, so the house may legally keep up to 17%.
  • A machine may sit anywhere above its state’s floor without telling you where. That is the honest lesson: not that a real casino pays some particular number, but that the guarantee is 75%–83% depending on the jurisdiction, and the rest is the operator’s choice.

These are statutory minimums, not averages or typical returns: Nevada 75% (Gaming Regulation 14) · New Jersey 83% (N.J.A.C. 13:69E-1.28A). A real machine must clear its state’s floor and may sit anywhere above it without saying where.

Here you can see the whole table. Every figure is computed from the constants the game plays with, and you can check the arithmetic — which is possible because nothing is at stake.
